Save Money! Get Connected!
SWTA is beginning a live discussion section of our website to find out who is interested in participating in a SWTA Regional Acquisition Center. Jim Meeks, Procurement Director for COTPA in Oklahoma City has agreed to lead this member-only effort.
The SWTA Regional Acquisition Center is a way for transit properties to SAVE MONEY by creating bulk buying for products like buses, vans, computers, motor parts and much more.
If your transit property is interested, please post what you are looking for OR what you are purchasing that you would allow others to join the contract so everyone gets a better price.
The FTA has approved this multi-region pilot project. Post your comments and questions below. You can also contact Jim Meeks if you have questions.

Mr. Meeks,
I’d like to be added to the group for group vehicle procurement. I work for the North Central Texas Council of Governments and we are in the process of buying vehicles for a small group of grantees and will look in the future to possibly do large group procurements. We’re always interested in what others are doing.
Thank you,
Juanita Bridges
Transportation Planner
Jim,
Good Morning, I am from the Transit Programs Division here at ODOT. Ken LaRue and I have talked about the group buying opportunity that you presented at the SWTA conference , and we are interested in getting more information about this pilot program. I would like to meet with you sometime if possible and discuss more of the details of the pilot program.
Sincerely,
Justin M. Neidel

Project Manager
Please be advised that we are working on a system where the SWTA members interested in the consortium are able to communicate so we can see who and what the interests are.
Please advise the type of vehicles and fuel
Jim
Jim,
The Business Contingency Group would be glad to work through the SWTA Regional Acquisition Center and offer volume discounts.

From Jim Meeks:
With all of the agencies acquainting same items; bus, paratransit vans, engines, transmissions, parts, security, etc. Partnerships are needed to keep our costs down and create a stronger buying power.
Talking with FTA Legal, the only way we can stay in compliance is to group or partner together (consortium). Please list the items you have budgeted for today and up to 5 years for a short term and long term planning, since we can contract up to 5 years, lets see what we can come up with to build this SWTA Region one of the strongest. Thank you all for your interest in cutting costs.
