The group is being called on to provide expertise, advice, and recommendations to the Department of Transportation and will help develop recommended practices that can be used by State DOT’s, transit agencies and individuals committed to ending modern day slavery known as human trafficking.
“I join the SWTA Board in congratulating Kristen Joyner on her selection to represent our industry, views and priorities on this issue. Kirsten has been a strong and consistent voice in helping our transit agency partners understand the important role we serve in protecting our community from this terrible and pervasive crime. We know that she will be an asset to the Secretary’s committee, and help SWTA remain a leader in this conversation”, Jeff Arndt, Chair of the SWTA Board and CEO of Via Metropolitan Transit in San Antonio
Kristen has been involved in the fight to end trafficking for over five years, served on the Transportation Leaders Against Human Trafficking White House Task Force, volunteers for Present Age Ministries, an organization dedicated to helping survivor girls age 12-18 year of age and works to provide awareness training and advocacy for Public Transportation’s Role and Responsibility in Human Trafficking.
Mrs. Joyner is committed to giving a voice to victims and survivors of Human Trafficking, calling out the demand side of this inhumane practice and leading the transit industry to “Git to Gittin’!”.
“It is time for public transportation Leaders, Operators, Boards of Directors, and Communities to take a stand and tell traffickers, ‘Not on My Bus, Not in My Community!’, states Mrs. Joyner.
Those of us at SWTA consider her to be a strong advocate for victims ad survivors. We have respect for her continuous and successful efforts to spread the awareness of Human Trafficking in the transit industry.
