NTI’s TAM Implementation for Tier II Providers & Sponsors + SWTA’s Safety Culture Workshop Details
Tuesday & Wednesday, July 25-26
NTI’s TAM: This course provides an overview of and implementation guidance for Tier II providers intending to comply with the Transit Asset Management (TAM) Final Rule (49 CFR 625). Tier II providers are defined as federal transit funding recipients that own, operate, or manage one hundred or fewer vehicles in revenue service during peak regular service across all non-rail fixed route modes or in any one non-fixed route mode, subrecipients under the 5311 Rural Area Formula Program, or any American Indian tribe. The course is intended to outline the requirements, underlying TAM principles, improve transit asset management understanding and practices among smaller providers, and provide support to Tier II parties charged with implementation of the asset management requirements, including: Group TAM Plan Sponsors, such as State Departments of Transportation or Metropolitan Planning Organizations; subrecipients with more than one hundred vehicles in bus only revenue service; and subrecipients with one hundred or fewer vehicles in revenue service that have chosen to opt-out of a Group TAM Plan.
NTI’s TAM Audience: This course is directed at mid- and senior-level managers from TAM Plan sponsoring agencies (Group Plan Sponsors and Group Plan Opt-outs), who will be responsible for the implementation of the TAM Final Rule within their agencies.
SWTA’s Safety Culture: A true culture of safety consists of shared beliefs, practices and mind-sets that exist within an organization. This two-part class will utilize real transit examples, discussion, hands-on exercises, videos and peer-to-peer learning to provide the foundation for creating a culture of safety that will shape behavior in a positive way.
Part one will focus on leadership. No matter what position a person holds within an organization, living the principles of safety, not just talking about them, provides the key to real lasting change. When everyone feels responsible for safety and pursues it on a daily basis to identify unsafe conditions and behaviors, and intervenes to correct them, the organization will begin to realize lower turn-over rates, lower absenteeism and higher productivity.
Part two will focus on FTA’s priorities, pillars and policies. This session will provide information about the Safety Management System (SMS) Approach (1) safety policy; (2) safety risk management; (3) safety assurance; and (4) safety promotion and will provide real-world guidance as to what this means for a rural or small urban transit system and how to implement the safety goals of the FTA.
SWTA’s Safety Culture Audience: Mid to Upper Management of Tier II agencies tasked with creating and maintaining a safe environment for customers and employees.
