We are seeking nominations for the SWTA Legislator of the Year, an award that recognizes a member of the U.S. House or Senate who has significantly advanced the interest of public transportation in the previous year. Last year we honored US Congressman and Chairman Pete Sessions (R-TX). Many thanks to Dallas Area Rapid Transit for their nomination and assistance in presenting the award to Chairman Sessions.

The Legislator of the Year award will be given on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 7:30 a.m. in Washington, DC at the SWTA Bullfeather’s Breakfast.

Below is a sample of what you can include in your nomination. This sample is from CASTA.:

CASTA nominates Senator Bennet from Colorado for the South West Transit Association Legislator of the year. Senator Bennet has been a tireless support for sound transit and transportation policy for Colorado. The Senator uses his seat on the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs to oversee issues critical to transit in the ongoing reauthorization process. He and his top-notch staff frequently reach out to transit providers to assess the impact proposed legislation will have on transit systems. He understands the delicate balance in transportation funding, and in working with mode interest, ensures that we all continue to work for the greater good of Coloradoans. In Senator Bennet, Coloradoans have the wise, thoughtful and passionate advocate for better quality of life. The Senator continues to bring rationality and vision to the legislative process, for which we are truly grateful.

Please provide your nomination via email by February 5, 2015.
