Stand Up 4 Transportation: VIA Metropolitan Transit

​WHAT: VIA Metropolitan Transit in San Antonio will co-host “Stand Up for Transportation Day,” a national event to call attention to the importance of infrastructure investment and the need for a long-term federal transportation reauthorization. The City of San Antonio, SAMCo, the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, and the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will join VIA in hosting “Stand Up for Transportation Day.” With the future of funding for America’s public transportation, highways, and bridges on the line, transportation and community leaders from across the country will unite the voices of 260 participating organizations in communities across the country to focus on the importance of passing a long-term, federal transportation bill. WHEN: Thursday, April 9, 2015, 7 – 8:30 a.m.

WHY: The current federal transportation funding bill, Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21), is set to expire on May 31, 2015. Without a long-term federal transportation funding bill, San Antonio and communities across the country will face uncertainty. Transportation is the backbone of our local and national economy, and a long-term transportation bill is needed to continue providing transportation options and growing the economy of our region.
