SWTA Tribal Transit Workshop

SWTA Tribal Transit Workshop

June 25-26, 2018

You can expect to be involved in a peer idea exchange with others facing the same challenges of providing transit on tribal lands. Hear from successful tribal transit directors who are doing unique projects for their elders and communities. At the end of the two days, you will have a better understanding of how to provide access to healthcare, jobs, education and life experiences.

We recently heard from Nnee Bich’o Nii tribal transit that they have an Elder who had not been off the reservation for 15 years. His first trip was to Walmart. This elder wept knowing that he now has the freedom to go where he wants to go and rides to Walmart as often as possible, just to sit on the bench and watch people. This is why tribal transit and this workshop are so important
