National RTAP Webinar: Understanding the Updated Drug & Alcohol Testing Regulation

The United States Department of Transportation’s (USDOT) drug and alcohol testing regulation, 49 CFR Part 40, has been revised and released as of 11/13/2017. The new regulation will become effective on January 1, 2018.

During this webinar, Robbie Sarles of RLS & Associates will provide a brief, but comprehensive, summary of the changes and how they will impact transit systems.

Robbie will describe the context of the revisions, the impact at the employer level, and what actions transit systems should make in advance of the January 1, 2018 effective date; including how to update/revise your transit system drug & alcohol testing policy.

The webinar will also briefly cover suggestions on the best practices to educate your employee workforce on these changes and how the changes may affect the employees.

Southern Nevada Strong Summit to Showcase Successes

Highly accomplished Oklahoma City mayor to deliver keynote address on executing big ideas

Southern Nevada Strong (SNS), our community’s regional planning effort administered by the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC), will hold its annual summit on Wednesday, Dec. 13. The summit, originally scheduled for Oct. 2, was postponed after the Oct. 1 Route 91 Harvest Festival tragedy.

This year’s summit theme is “SNS-Working Regionally” and will include a comprehensive review of SNS partner successes over the last year and
discussions about working on a regional level to achieve SNS goals.

Committed to leveraging best practices and learning from other metropolitan areas, the RTC will welcome Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett as the SNS
summit’s keynote speaker. Known as a problem solver who gets things done, Cornett is considered one of the most honored mayors in U.S. history. Rated the No. 2 mayor worldwide by an international panel, Newsweek magazine called Cornett one of the “five most innovative mayors in the United States” and Politico placed him on the publication’s 50 list of “thinkers, doers and visionaries transforming American politics in 2015.”

Cornett is expected to share personal perspectives and experiences from his collaborative work advancing major infrastructure projects and
championing important causes in Oklahoma City.

WHAT: Annual summit to update stakeholders on accomplishments and discuss future efforts related to the SNS regional plan.
