SWTA Virtual Session: Using Propane as an Affordable & Low-Emissions Fuel Source
Although zero-emission electric buses using battery technology are becoming increasingly wide-spread, for public transit systems operating smaller vehicles – particularly in rural areas – alternative fuels producing lower emissions than standard diesel fuel are an important component of reducing overall vehicle emissions. This session will explore how propane fuel is used by transit operators to achieve improved fuel efficiency, reliability and lower emissions.
Steve Whaley, Director of Autogas Business Development at the Propane Education and Research Council (PERC) will share trends and examples in propane fuel for smaller transit vehicles and systems from the SWTA Nation operating propane fuel vehicles will share their experiences.
