CAP METRO: Project Manager I Rail Systems


Description

The Project Manager, Rail Systems reports directly to the Program Manager IV, Rail Systems. The position is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the various rail projects, initiating actions needed to keep progress on schedule and on budget, facilitating coordination between Capital Metro and the contractor, and monitoring compliance with project plans and specification.

Primary Duties

  • Monitor progress of various rail projects such as the grade crossing improvements projects, State of Good Repair projects, and the federally mandated Positive Train Control (PTC) project.
  • Management of the project schedules and project milestones.
  • Manage daily activities of each project and provide project reports.
  • Assist with the development of project implementation plans, specification, resource allocation, risk analysis, quality control programs, schedules, and budgets
  • Monitor Contractor compliance with project requirements such as budget, quality control testing, permits requirements, schedule, and safet
  • Review contractor submittals, Request for Information (RIF) and draft responses for approval by the Engineer or subject matter expert
  • Work with project team to mitigate project delay
  • Maintain and manage project documentations using SharePoint, and other Capital Metro approved document management system
  • Assist with Rail Configuration Management implementation and monitoring
  • Assist Rail Office staff with various tasks, including but not limited to; design reviews, project research and need assessment, schedule, and manage meetings, take meeting notes, and develop project cost estimates
  • Support Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Safety Management Systems (SMS) process by following safety and security policies, considering safety in every action and reporting safety and security concerns.
  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

Desired Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Project Management, Civil Engineering, or related field. Additional relevant experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four years.
  • Minimum 1 year of project management experience
  • Domain knowledge in technological related business is preferred
  • Previous railroad experience preferred.
