Transit Planner and Grants Specialist
Knowledge: Understand regulations relating to the provision of public transit including but not limited to the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and American with Disabilities Act (ADA). Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations. Procedures of grant writing and administration. Principles and practices of program development and administration. Principles and practices of municipal budget preparation and administration. Mental and Physical Abilities: Regular, predictable and punctual attendance is a necessary and essential function. Mental effort required due to sustained periods of concentration and working under pressure of deadlines. Near vision enough to see a computer screen and printouts, and to read and draft written documents such as reports. Speech and hearing enough to communicate clearly and distinctly both in person and be telephone. WORKING CONDITIONS: Primarily indoors in climate controlled environment, occasionally exposed to outside environment. Additional Information: Selected applicant must pass background investigation and drug screen.
- Essential Functions: Ensures program expenditures are in accordance with the contracted service provider agreement, FTA regulations, and grant requirements. Attends committee meetings relating to public transit and other meetings as assigned. Researches, applies for, monitors and maintains grants relating to the transit program. Prepares and maintains required reports and correspondence pertaining to the transit program, to include any required reporting to local, State, and Federal agencies. Assists in monitoring special transit programs and bus maintenance records. Working with the contracted service provider, maintains bus routes/schedules and keeps records on all buses. Stays familiar with equipment on each bus and requirements to be kept on each bus. Assists the Transit and Parking Program Manager in preparing, implementing and monitoring both current and long-range public transit and related projects. Reviews, responds to, and resolves program and customer inquiries and complaints if needed. Performs data entry into spreadsheets and/or databases relating to the transit program. Performs research on special topics, projects or problems and compiles data on findings for review as directed. Performs other related work as required.
Desired Education & Experience
- Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in public transportation, public administration, planning or business. Minimum of five years of experience in public transportation or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. License and Certifications: Valid Oklahoma driver's license and satisfactory motor vehicle record.
