Reports To: General Manager

Job Summary: Manages Information Technology Department by managing staff, researching solutions, staying abreast of new technology, implementing technological strategic plans, maintaining all existing technology, overseeing the implementation of new technology, and protecting the data of MTTA.

Knowledge – Bachelor’s Degree required in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a business field with computer training.  A combination of computer training and experience may be considered in lieu of advanced education.  Must have considerable knowledge of various computer systems.  Must have demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with the public and co-workers on the telephone, in writing, in person, and in group settings.

Mental Effort – Requires ability to handle numerous projects and activities at once.  Requires ability to work with others and independently under minimal supervision.

Physical – Extensive sitting, standing, and walking are all required in the course of a normal workday.  May be required to lift or push l5-25 pounds.

Audible/Visual Demands – Requires ability to hear telephone and verbal directions given; visually perform essential functions for satisfactory job performance.  Ability to view PC display for extended periods.

Miscellaneous – Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and travel to meetings, conferences, and training events when necessary.  Must be safety conscious and avoid accidents if possible.

Primary Duties

  • Supervise daily activities of Information Technology staff.  Direct work assignments, set priority for projects, monitor quality of work and job performance.
  • Serve as the Network Engineer designing, configuring, implementing, updating the network related hardware to include Firewall, Switches, WiFi Access, etc.
  • Mentor the team members and assist them in reaching goals for professional development.
  • Monitor 3rd party maintenance and service contracts, ensuring they are up to date, that they meet the needs of the business, and maximize ROI.
  • Responsible for identifying and presenting cost savings allowing MTTA to maximize ROI while maintaining or improving on IT Service delivery throughout the organization.
  • Assist departments in planning and development of future expansion, and adoption of new technologies to improve service delivery.
  • Serve as the Project Manager for contracted Information Technology consulting services.
  • Ensures that projects are completed efficiently and on schedule.
  • Accomplishes information technology staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring security solutions for the network, as well as for disaster and recovery plans.
  • Analyzes the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs.
  • Maintain and update manuals, tutorials, and process documentation as needed.
  • Actively tracks all hardware and software being purchased, used, and disposed of.
  • Actively tracks and manages all necessary software licenses.
  • Actively monitors the vulnerability of security threats and takes precautionary measures to protect MTTA data and equipment.
  • Ensures the adherence to all state, federal, and local laws, as well as MTTA policies.
  • Provide General Manager with monthly activity reports detailing general computer system performance, project status updates, and future needs as identified in cooperation with other employees.
  • Other Job Functions: Must report to work on a regular and timely basis. Prepares miscellaneous reports, as needed. Must attend relevant training, as required. Assumes other job functions as directed or required.  

Desired Education & Experience

  • B.S. Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related work experience with emphasis on Infrastructure design, implementation, administration.
  • 4-6 yrs of knowledge/experience in Network Infrastructure, Server Virtualization and other Microsoft server and Networking technologies.

Desired Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge/experience in using MS Office & Microsoft operating systems
  • Proficient in Infrastructure and PC/Server hardware selection, installation and configuration.
  • Excellent technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Excellent work ethic, detail-oriented, self-motivated, resourceful, committed to quality, and open to direction.
  • Must have demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with the public and co-workers on the telephone, in writing, in person, and in group settings.
  • Skilled in project management, coordinating resources, and establishing priorities.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Azure, Cloud Hosting, and Cisco network hardware is a plus.
  • Skilled at vendor pricing and contract negotiations highly desired.
  • Work independently on project management with minimal direct supervision.
  • Must have valid driver's license and transportation.
  • Must be flexible, dependable, and willing to work evenings and weekends, when necessary.
